The Briv® rivet is a high clench speed fastening rivet offering the greatest variety of any Avdel® speed fastener. It is available in aluminum, brass, steel or stainless steel construction and sizes of 3/32", 1/8", 5/32" and 3/16". The Briv® rivet has a shouldered end, which expands against the rear application sheet during installation. The Briv® rivet relies on this bulbing tail formation to create extremely high clench and joint strength. This makes the Briv® rivet ideal for use in thin sheet, soft, brittle and low strength materials, as well as resulting in high resistance to pull-out loads. While it is always recommended that application thickness and hole size meet the specified ranges, several mandrel sizes are available for the Briv® rivet allowing it to be used in applications slightly outside those dimensions.

Speed fasteners are placed using a unique repetition mandrel system. Rivets are loaded into specialist tooling and, during placement, the tool pulls the mandrel through the rivet giving both axial and radial expansion (providing clamp and hole fill). At the end of each cycle the next rivet is automatically delivered to the nose piece ready for placement. For large volume applications the fasteners can be bowl fed using automated equipment which gives continuous feed with cycle times as low as 1.5 seconds.

Features

  • Bulbed tail and foreshortening of the fastener during installation ensures high clamp

  • Bulbed tail and large headform provide a large bearing area for soft materials

  • Tapered tail for ease of hole entry

  • Expands radially during installation to ensure maximum hole fill

  • Lower in-place costs than welding or nail rivets

  • Hot tin dipped brass option for ease of soldering and good electrical continuity

  • Stainless Steel option for applications subject to high temperatures or corrosion

  • Placed using a unique repetition mandrel system for high speed assembly

  • Can be bowl fed for larger volume applications using automated equipment
